Friends of the Art Park Players is committed to ensuring that theater is accessible to everyone in our community, including those with disabilities. We strive to make our website, artparkplayers.org, a welcoming and usable space for all visitors, regardless of the technology they use or the ability they possess.
We are actively working to conform our digital content to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. These international standards provide the framework for making web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, and cognitive impairments.
We are continuously improving our site by implementing:
Descriptive Alt Text: Providing text descriptions for images to assist users of screen readers.
Keyboard Accessibility: Ensuring all interactive elements, such as menus and forms, can be navigated using only a keyboard.
Logical Content Structure: Using clear headings and lists to make information easier to find and understand.
Clear Color Contrast: Maintaining a high contrast ratio between text and background to improve readability for those with low vision.
As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we sometimes rely on third-party tools to help us serve our patrons. Some areas of our site may have limitations beyond our direct control:
External Portals: Our volunteer portal (Get Connected) and the City of Deer Park ticketing portal are managed by third parties. While we advocate for accessibility, we cannot guarantee these external sites are fully compliant.
Legacy Content: Some older PDFs or historical theater archives may not be fully optimized for screen readers at this time.
