Disaster! is a loving spoof of 1970s disaster movies, packed with iconic pop hits from the era. Set aboard a floating casino and disco, the show delivers non-stop comedy as earthquakes, tidal waves, fires, and sharks all strike at once.

AUDITION PREPARATION

  • Prepare 16–32 bars of a musical theatre or 1970s-style pop song
  • Please bring backing track to be played via blue tooth
  • Be prepared to learn a short movement/dance combination
  • Cold readings from the script may be included
 
 

Chad / A handsome and winning man. Pretends to be a player, but is really still heartbroken over the loss of his first love. Tenor with a great rock and pop voice.

Scott / Goofy guy. A nerd who wants to be cool. Tenor with a sweet voice.

Ted / A disaster expert. Non-emotional. Dry. A serious, professorial type.

Marianne / An attractive and focused journalist. Insecure underneath it all. Great, high pop belt.

Tony / A very unscrupulous but attractive and (sometimes) charming middle-aged man.  A schemer.

Jackie / An aging but still sexy showgirl and now lounge singer. Dumb but honest. Godlie Hawn-esque.

Ben / Lisa / Played by a young boy. Smart boy and girl twins played by the same actor. Honest and direct. Jackie’s son and daughter. Amazing pop voice. Belt to a high D. With vibrato! A young Michael Jackson/Andrea McArdle.

Sister Mary Downey / Awkward, judgmental nun with a gambling addiction. Great high pop belt.

Shirley / Perhaps heavy set, lovable and jolly Jewish woman.  Maury’s wife. Dancing a plus. Great comedic actress.

Levora Verona / A flamboyant and glamorous faded disco diva. Pushy and sassy but in love with her sweet dog. Great pop belt.

Ensemble

A versatile ensemble to portray casino guests, disco dancers, reporters, sailors, and more. Strong singers and movers with a commitment to comedy are encouraged. Ensemble members may also understudy principal roles.
